In the past three years, I’ve created superfans for my business. Now, I want to share with you who superfans are, what superfans do, & how YOU can create superfans for your business.
If you’ve been following me on Instagram and TikTok, you’ll know that I’ve been cultivating a community of creatives for the past four years. Throughout those years, I’ve shared so many videos of other people talking about Bold X Boho (my template shop) and sharing our stuff – those are our superfans.
No… it’s not this weird thing like you’re a celebrity and they’re crazy fans that are coming to your front door obsessed with you… It’s more like they feel connected to your purpose, to your business.
All the social media platforms have so much noise, and a lot of it’s negative. By creating superfans, you are giving the people this one space online where they can feel good, empowered, and excited about what you’re doing and how you’re showing up.
The number one thing about superfans is that they’re more connected to YOU than the service. This gives you room to pivot. There are so many times that I’ve launched a new feature or product and been really unsure of how it would turn out.
However, due to the nature of our deep connections with our audience, they’ve always been excited to see everything we put out. Our superfans have a really high level of interest. They really feel like they’re being heard and understood—and we are too.
The best way I’ve created superfans is by consistently showing up. Here are a few more points that go a bit more in-depth:
Engage on Social Media: It’s so common for me to see people posting videos on Instagram and TikTok, but then I go to their comments, and it’s empty… They have all these comments, but they haven’t responded to them. To me, that’s just not how you create superfans; that’s not how you build deep connections. They’re humans. They want to be seen, and they want to be heard. So, it’s your responsibility to hear them and see them.
Don’t Think Of Fans as Leads: Willow and I don’t just see our audience with money signs for eyes. We think of our audience as people and love connecting with them. Each follower doesn’t have to be a client. They can be people with big dreams and goals that come to your page to get inspired, get educated, and learn how to run their businesses. I don’t expect anything from them. If they respond to me and I know they’re never going to be a client, I don’t care. I still respond.
Create Shareable Content: Meaning, creating with the intention that it’s going to get shared. Things like Instagram posts that you’re going to ask people to share on their story or send to a friend. All those little call-to-actions that prompt people to actually share the content are vital.
Be Creative: We did a giveaway a while ago that speaks exactly to this point. We were giving away a 90-min coaching session and a template of the winner’s choice from Bold x Boho. So we asked people to create a video submission talking about why they should win and what it would do for their business. I kid you not, this was the best decision I ever made. It blew up. People loved the creativity and loved the idea.
What Type of Content Creates Superfans?
There’s one main theme of content that creates superfans. What is that, you ask? Authenticity.
Perfect isn’t relatable. It’s not human. By showing up more vulnerable and imperfect even, you’re seen as more like everyone else. Share the things in your day when you’re in your pajamas, and you’re like, “Why would I ever share this on Instagram?” Those are the things people want to see. Because they’re connectable. It’s just the way you can build that really deep, intimate connection with people.
Second, share the things that are most important to you… those are the things that connect with the people that are most aligned and in your space.
If you want to create superfans, I’ve got one word for you: strategy.

Be Consistent: Stories are more important. If your goal is to create a fun and engaged following and to create superfans, focus on your story. It’s so much more raw, vulnerable, and less polished than just a picture. A video is way more powerful in connecting with people than a picture. In a picture, you really can’t tell emotion. With a video, you can really communicate what you want to communicate, and it makes people feel like you’re literally talking to them rather than just talking to your phone.
Respond to everyone: Every single comment and DM. Engage with them. See them, hear them, listen to them. Not just a half-assed “thanks” to all the comments. Actually engage with them. Give them what they want.
Be Vulnerable: I think you can be more authentic via Instagram stories and TikTok. Just be human and show up imperfect. Humanize your brand.
Give Free Value: Having those superfans feel like it’s not all about money is VITAL! Freebies can be any type of educational content. They can be downloadable PDFs, long-form how-to’s, and mini trainings on your stories. Ask your audience what they want. Use polls and questions so that people really feel heard.

Success was never a question for me. Even after dropping out of high school and living the “digital nomad” lifestyle with absolutely no plan in place, I knew for a fact that there were big things waiting for me. When I found the online space in 2016, everything clicked. Starting as a VA, I finally found something that I could do while traveling the world (which is all I’ve ever really wanted out of life). But despite the fact that I was no longer tied down to a place of work, I was still limited in my income and feeling creatively unfulfilled. When I finally decided to allow myself to be the passionate creative that I am deep down, and took the plunge into the world of website design, everything changed for me. I work on my own time, with unlimited income potential, designing websites for passionate entrepreneurs, and I can teach you to do the same.
If you’re wondering where life could take you as a creative who feels allergic to the 9-5 lifestyle, I’d like to welcome you into my family. I gave a resounding “f*ck no” to the “traditional” a long time ago, and I’ve seen just how beautiful it can be when you chase your passions and turn them into massive profit.
150+ websites, 1,300+ students, and MILLIONS of dollars earned by my students… that’s a recipe for living a life that you’re excited to brag about.
High school dropout turned creative multi-millionaire.
